Mr Gardner qualified in 1992 and has specialised in the treatment of both benign and malignant gynaecological conditions. He qualified in General Obstetrics and Gynaecology. He then spent another three years studying Gynaecological Oncology; he has been registered for both specialties by the GMC.

As Clinical Director of Gynaecology at Queen Alexandra Hospital Portsmouth, his special clinical interests are screening for gynaecological malignancies and advancing the surgical treatment of both benign and malignant gynaecological conditions.

Mr Gardner is the lead for a single visit endometrial cancer screening service for women with postmenopausal bleeding. He has led the development of a single visit menstrual disorder clinic where women can have all the investigations and the treatment in the outpatient setting. He also has expertise and skill in colposcopy and laparoscopic surgery.

In the treatment of Endometrial Cancer, Mr Gardner is an expert in Minimal Access Surgical (MAS) Techniques. He has dramatically improved the post operative recovery of patients reducing inpatient stay from 3-7 days for open surgery to 1-2 days for MAS treated patients.
